About Elaine Cecconi
As founding partner of Cecconi Simone Inc., an award-winning interior-design practice based in Toronto, Canada, Elaine has led countless, high-profile projects in the retail, corporate, hospitality and residential sectors over three decades. Residential projects designed by Elaine – in Canada, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and China – comprise a significant portion of Cecconi Simone’s portfolio.
The firm has designed more than seventy high-rise residences in Toronto alone, a sizeable number of which have been helmed by Elaine. Elaine also has spearheaded groundbreaking urban-infill townhome communities and has designed private residences for many distinguished luminaries. Where do you find design inspiration?
Design inspiration isn’t from a single source but a multitude of places and experiences. Some are purely visual – architecture, interior design, graphics, new media, television, film, landscape. Others are experiential and trigger other senses including – travel, cuisine, cultural events, music, nature, cities.
How do you approach the design process?
Our design process is very collaborative. We make every effort to understand our clients, their needs, their habits, their preferences, their aspirations, their lives. The result is a culmination of good design that delivers functionality and livability.
What makes your aesthetic stand out amongst other designers?
Our aesthetic is distinctive in its clean, contemporary lines. Our designs are simple but not simplistic; there's sophistication in the layering of elements and finishes. Our designs are enduring rather than 'of the moment' or trendy. We love to celebrate the materials and use them for highest visual impact. We use limited palettes derived from nature, be it cool, warm or a combination of the two. Colour is used sparingly and in areas that are easily changeable, such as accessories or artwork, as these are the aspects of any project that date. Our interiors are beautiful to inhabit and enhance the lives of those who live there.
What is the greatest value you provide to your clients?
The value we bring to our clients is our creativity, our team, our wide-ranging experience and our proven ability, over three decades, to deliver projects on time and on budget. Our work is always innovative and fresh, resulting in exceptionally tailored interior environments that respond to the unique requirements of each one of our clients.
