Stacy Eisenmann Q & A
Where do you find design inspiration?
From listening to my clients. I love clean, simple, organized spaces and try and simplify design concepts down to their purest form.
How do you approach the design process?
I start with space plan options to see what realistically fits into the space while maintaining good circulation. Once a layout has been established I develop a design language, typically taking clues from the vernacular architecture. This process lends itself to designing integrated spaces that join old and new, a design problem that is consistently a challenge.
What makes your aesthetic stand out amongst other designers?
Most of my projects are remodeling existing structures, so there is already a design language in place. I embrace this language and use it to inform my design decisions. So, I have the pleasure of working in varied design languages and no two look the same.
What is the greatest value you provide to your clients?
My work improves the quality of living for my clients. In addition, I sit on the planning and zoning commission in Albany, a position I currently chair. This insight into the integration of a project into the city’s fabric has informed many of my project’s directions.
