Sande Kitchen
Regional Award Winner KDC 2010-12
Les clients aiment recevoir et leur cahier des charges spécifiait un “style contemporain glamour”.
A separate scullery was required to enable the kitchen to maintain its glamorous appearance at all times. Seating for four people at the island for casual dining was requested, as well as a large sink, and a second sink in the scullery. Appliance requirements included a 120cm wide Sub-Zero fridge/freezer and a Wolf gas hob. The position of the full height window on the back external wall was fixed, due to its critical symmetrical placement on the front elevation of the house. The size of the kitchen needed to allow ample space for the formal dining table at the front of the kitchen and maximum area for the lounge suite on the left. As the kitchen was designed prior to the commencement of construction, the placement of partitioning walls was manipulated, allowing the scullery entry to align with the rear window. The entry position also splits the scullery into two spaces giving easier access into this narrow room. The highly polished mirror finish stainless steel island provides the glamour while the bead blasted heavily grained stained Oak gives the kitchen a solid timeless aesthetic.
