Concealed Bar Transforms Multi-Purpose Room
into Elegant Entertaining Hub

As avid entertainers, the homeowners wanted to transform this multi-purpose pass-through room into an inviting social space fit to host their many gatherings. The space also needed to serve as an effortless transition between the private family areas and formal rooms. By incorporating retractable doors and paneled Sub-Zero appliances, the bar balances function and visual appeal and maintains an uncluttered, elegant aesthetic.

The retractable paneled doors ensure the bar remains attractively concealed when not in use—key to the homeowners’ vision for the room. This clever integration maintains the seamless and orderly aesthetic while heightening the versatility of the space.

EXCEPTIONAL WINE STORAGE

While entertaining, the homeowners desired easy access to a selection of wines from their more extensive basement cellar. The Sub-Zero wine column was the perfect choice as it offers customized temperature-controlled storage for both red and white wines. Its slender design and paneled look fit elegantly in the symmetrical bar, enhancing the aesthetic while offering superior functionality.

DELIGHT IS IN THE DETAILS

High-gloss finishes on the cabinetry and walls, along with a soapstone countertop, contribute to the bar’s sophisticated look. Delightful design details reveal themselves when the bar is opened, including an elegant sconce and brass-strapped shelving.

SYMMETRY AND AESTHETIC COHESION

Achieving visual symmetry and a balanced look was of utmost importance to both the designer and homeowners. Panels elegantly camouflage appliances, ensuring the bar remains visually unobtrusive for both everyday use and formal occasions.

CUSTOM DESIGNED FOR ENTERTAINING

Understanding the homeowner's love for hosting, the bar includes a custom table designed for wine tasting and socializing. It serves as a functional centerpiece that complements the design and owners’ frequent entertaining needs.
