Family-Friendly Function and Form at Home
in Transitional Kitchen

Design student Alexander Drozdovitch created a rendered kitchen concept for a hypothetical client: homeowners in suburban Manchester who desired a functional yet sophisticated family hub that evolves with their lifestyle and family needs. In the scenario, the homeowners desired a welcoming space that would foster communication and relaxation when their adult daughter returned home during school breaks. Prioritizing quality materials and thoughtful design, the space aims to enhance their daily routines and social gatherings.

CUSTOMIZED ZONES

The kitchen is divided into three purposeful zones: meal prep, a bar area, and a coffee station. Each area is tailored to enhance the family's daily activities, from cooking and dining to entertaining.

AMPLE, CONVENIENT LIGHTING

The central window invites daylight into the kitchen, while glossy finishes throughout the kitchen reflect light into darker corners. Strategically positioned ambient and task lighting bolster illumination, made ultra convenient thanks to the smart-light operation system.

CONCEALED STORAGE SOLUTIONS

Custom cabinetry with vertically slat retracting doors eliminates the need for wide spacers, optimizing space and adding contemporary flair. The concealed command center includes a foldable desk and stationary storage, promoting organization without sacrificing aesthetics.

LUXURY APPLIANCES

Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove appliances were chosen for their durability and innovative features. A Wolf Induction Cooktop and Downdraft Ventilation ensure superior cooking performance, while the Sub-Zero Wine Storage and Undercounter Ice Maker cater to the family's entertaining needs.

TRANSITIONAL MIX

The kitchen features custom-made cherrywood cabinetry, brass trim accents, glossy eucalyptus-colored wall cabinets, and stucco walls for a sophisticated and timeless mix of finishes. Meanwhile, the luxurious quartzite countertop ties everything together.
