A Contemporary Culinary Oasis for Relaxed Living

In the rolling hills of Scottsdale, Arizona, a family sought to create a warm and inviting retreat that reflected their casual lifestyle. They envisioned a kitchen that balances bold architectural elements with soft interior colors, providing a relaxed environment for everyday living. Their design journey led to a unique blend of modern luxury and comfortable elegance, perfectly suited for their desert home.

EMPHASIS ON CASUAL DINING

The homeowners opted to expand the island in lieu of a formal dining space, creating a more relaxed and inviting kitchen environment that aligns with their casual approach to family gatherings and meals.

CONTRASTING TEXTURES AND TONES

Inspired by the home’s building materials, the design incorporates concrete block throughout the interior. Book-matched walnut panels and flamed black granite offer beautiful contrast, creating a dynamic blend of textures and tones.

LUXURIOUS MODERN ACCENTS

The kitchen features soft matte beige millwork, complemented by a horizontal line of walnut panels that conceal the hood liner. A second row of smoked glass upper cabinets adds a luxurious modern accent to the contemporary design.

SLEEK, MINIMAL APPLIANCES

In the walnut-wrapped appliance wall, Sub-Zero Refrigeration integrates unobtrusively. Meanwhile the black-glass Wolf appliances provide a stark accent against the muted walnut, echoing the aesthetic of the smoked-glass upper cabinets above the Wolf Rangetop.

UNSEEN FUNCTIONALITY

A concealed pantry, behind an unassuming tall cabinet door, keeps unsightly messes and clutter out of view of the main kitchen and living areas, essential in an open-concept design like this one.
