"Our client who grew up in New Orleans was building her dream home patterned after the historical Houmas house on River Road."
"Our challenge was to give her a kitchen that blended traditional cabinetry and hardware, whimsical touches like the black and white floor tile, a black and white paneled vent hood and retro bar stools with state of the art appliances. The cabinets were built locally by Verser cabinet shop. This meant that the client could be involved face to face in the design and selection process. She chose the simplicity of a flat panel door but selected the highly detailed look of inset doors with finial hinges. A wall of display cabinets with glass doors on both sides defines the kitchen space without visually separating the kitchen from the living room. For the countertops she chose 3 cm Carrera marble. The black and white color scheme works perfectly with the stainless appliances to give the kitchen a clean but not contemporary look for this historically inspired home. As a finishing touch our client added authentic cremone bolts to the upper cabinets and a reproduction Kit Cat wall clock."
